Learn shortcuts in groups of two or three. The goal is reliable control, not memorizing a long list.
Editing shortcuts
Copy, cut, and paste move text and files without retyping. Undo reverses a recent action, while redo reapplies it. Select All highlights all text or items in the current context.
On macOS, use the Command key for most of these shortcuts.
Finding and saving
Find searches within the current page or document. Save writes current changes. Print opens print options, which may also allow saving as PDF.
Moving between applications and tabs
On Windows, Alt+Tab switches between open applications. On macOS, Command+Tab serves a similar purpose. In many browsers, Ctrl+Tab or Control+Tab moves to the next tab, and Ctrl+W or Command+W closes the current tab.
Use shortcuts safely
The same shortcut can behave differently depending on where the cursor is and what is selected. Check the active window before pressing Delete or closing a tab. When in doubt, save first.
